Festival of the Moon - Wakefield
We’re really excited to have been working with Wakefield Council as creative programmers for their ambitious Festival of the Moon event taking place this Summer!
Centred around Luke Jerram’s stunning Museum of the Moon artwork which will be suspended high up from the former Market Hall’s ceiling. Museum of the Moon is seven metres in diameter with every centimetre representing 5km of the moon’s surface – it’s a beautiful mix of moonlight, imagery from NASA and music from BAFTA winning musician Dan Jones.
Alongside our friends at Long Division Festival we were asked to programme two weeks of events around this exciting coup for Wakefield and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
The programme for The Festival of the Moon has come together wonderfully and features some huge names performing at some very special events including Public Service Broadcasting performing The Race For Space, Britains first astronaut Helen Sharman, BBC’s The Clangers, Blur’s Dave Rowntree in conversation with the Rosse Observatory as well as live music and DJ sets from the likes of Dave Rowntree and Ross Jarman of Wakey heroes The Cribs.
